JustG<p>You know what would be great in 2025 <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>canada</span></a> ?? To buy MEC back from the American vulture capitalists Kingswood Capital Management. JustG<p>I’ve been thinking on this for a long time and given what is going to happen to the bike industry in the <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/usa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>usa</span></a> there needs to be a grassroots reimagining of the bike industry. Canada needs to onshore regular and cargo bike manufacturing. The bike industry is collectively on aggregate focused on sport, selling new models like their iPhones. The bike industry needs to become part of the “transportation” industry <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ottawa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ottawa</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ottbike" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ottbike</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/biketooter" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>biketooter</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/cdnpoli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cdnpoli</span></a></p>

JustG<p>It’s not lost on me that it takes more than a message, especially with the way the current mayor has run things. But I don’t think “balanced approaches” have much life left in them given the world. Promising the world and saying all the low taxes and wide roads and blah blah blah can’t have much staying power especially if cars are about to get 25% more expensive <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/cdnpoli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cdnpoli</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ottawa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ottawa</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/onpoli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>onpoli</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ontario" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ontario</span></a></p>
JustG<p>Here’s some <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/cdnpoli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cdnpoli</span></a> hot takes given its an election and why not - if Pierre loses, its a toss for Ford or Smith as leaders of the federal <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/conservatives" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>conservatives</span></a> And given the data and polling from <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ottawa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ottawa</span></a> centre, Joel could mount a decent run for mayor in 2026 if he could get his ground game extended into the suburbs. I dont hold much hope for Ottawa but there’s gotta be someone who can galvanize the burbs with the right message <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ontario" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ontario</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/onpoli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>onpoli</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>canada</span></a></p>

JustG<p>Culturally the thing I’m thinking about regarding Pierre’s “women are only useful when their reproducing” bullshit is that… are we really in a housing crisis when the explicit message is you can’t have kids if you don’t own a fucking single family home? It’s classist bullshit, its racial in nature if you see who live in multi-unit buildings, and it perpetuates the ladder that has led us to the fucking attic of capitalized housing <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/canada" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>canada</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/cdnpoli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>cdnpoli</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ottawa" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ottawa</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/onpoli" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>onpoli</span></a> <a href="https://mstdn.social/tags/ontario" class="mention hashtag" rel="nofollow noopener noreferrer" target="_blank">#<span>ontario</span></a></p>
