Udi The Tisch<p>4. There are essentially anti-semitic and nasty elements in Dickens (esp. Fagin) and Shakespeare (Shylock). The way they felt with it at my (Jewish) primary school in London was by teaching us The Merchant of Venice as our first every bit of Shakespeare. Speaking now as an English teacher (in Israel), I think that was great!</p><p>ps. I also love Philip Larkin. These men are interesting.
