I figured I should make this into a poster. A4 size, but can easily be scaled to fit onto Letter size, for you non-standard Americans out there.

A portrait of me from head and down to the upper chest. I am wearing a black sweater and knitted hat with a large round yarn tassel on top.

My long hair is haning out on each side of the neck and down and I am holding my hands towards my head on each side, pulling the hat down and over my face. Eyes closed and my head is leaning a bit back and smiling.

It is a long exsposure which makes my face visible through the hat, that is drawn down to my neck.

I’m ending the week on one of my favorite parts of the process—selecting coordinating hues of glaze and terra sigillata to paint my pots. I started working this way about a year ago. After collecting clay samples for many years, I finally began using them to decorate my pottery. It has added so much to my work in terms of cultural expression and connection to the Earth. The clay was collected from the land around Arrowmont School of Crafts in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, in the Smoky Mountains. It’s a place I’ve been able to travel to three times so far and holds positive memories for me. I’ve attended workshops there and also taught there myself.

The image features a collection of colorful ceramic test tiles with decorative patterns, placed in front of jars labeled with different place names that correspond with where the clay inside was collected. A bone dry, unfired decorative pitcher is on the right, and various pottery pieces are visible in the background. The objects sit on a work table within the context of an apparently active pottery studio. Various pieces of pottery and kilns can be seen in the background.

Another night with Aurora Borealis

A nightsky with some silhouette trees visible at the bottom left and right of the forest, the rest of the image is of the sky. A lot of dots of stars up there sand some thin and partly transparent clouds behind the aurora that covers the whole image. At the low third part a fast moving and very bright neon green bow is shining and moving in vertical spars brush like pattern upwards. The rest of the sky is filled with the aurora that has a warm and intensed red tone of light, a bit stronger to the right in the same brush-like and pilar patterns. Between the red and the green the colour of the aurora is almost white because it is so strong and the dark blue colour of the sky is not really visible through the auroras bright light anywhere in the picture.
