CLAPPER. The tongue of a bell, and figuratively of a man or woman.

CLINCH. A pun or quibble. To clinch, or to clinch the nail; to confirm an improbable story by another: as, A man swore he drove a tenpenny nail through the moon; a bystander said it was true, for he was on the other side and clinched it.

TWIST. A mixture of half tea and half coffee; likewise brandy, beer, and eggs. A good twist; a good appetite. To twist it down apace; to eat heartily.

Bonobos’ calls may be the closest thing to animal language we’ve seen.
@ArsTechnica reports: "300 aspects of each call were cataloged, letting researchers estimate meaning."
**Viking**
Wordorigins.org
“_Not only did viking helmets not have horns, the Norse people who sailed about the northern world were more likely to be peaceful merchants and traders than plundering raiders and pirates. Viking was an occupation, and an occasional gig at that, not an ethnic identity._”

Today is day 2 of the Symposium on American Indian Languages.
Yesterday was great. I think. I was mostly outside of the talks trying to halp with organization and food and stuff.
But I did get to hear O'odham, Cherokee, Kichwa and Kiowa while learning about brilliant language work happening all over the Americas
A translation example where Google prefers the engineer being male to the relationship being straight.
From English "The engineer wrote her spouse." to Spanish "The [male] engineer wrote to his [male] spouse."
The bonobos are talking, like, in sentences. Your regular reminder that human exceptionalism has no visible means of support.
To shine a spotlight, a college student from Tennessee is currently creating an app to help people understand sign language easier and I want him to succeed before Duolingo get their paws on the idea.

Irish 5-point Likert scale:

Every couple of days, my instance suggests me "Who to follow".
Some of the suggestions are actually pretty good, but that's not my point, here.
It's the phrase that irritates me.
I'd rather expect "Whom to follow".
Is it just me, or do other people feel the same (I'm not a native speaker, though).
Quick translations with 'translate-shell' in commandline:
" trans -b :{your_desired_language_code} '{PASTED-TEXT}' " and the translate-shell identifies the source language by default
To find your language code : 'trans -list-all'
An ' -p' option to play the audio of the translation is available as well, but i can't tell if all languages are complete .
