There is a Rökysopp song, “Melody A.M.” that gave me a twinge of sad nostalgia. Not the tune, but the end, where it switches to a recording of a guy calling his friend and telling him some “good frequencies” he’s been messing around with in his DSP music machine. He gets to 400 kHZ and his friend says, “Four hundred!” Yeah. “I’m coming over.” “Do that.” “I’ll be there in a sec.”
Just being able to call a friend and have him come over, with no concern about #Covid — about being infected by #virus that has given millions a life of disability and misery and continues to do so whether you choose to believe it or not. And still having such friends, five years into a #pandemic that has changed people’s brains and mass-delusional behavior.
It’s a lot. We’ve been at this a long time, fellow #CovidIsNotOver people, with no end in sight and the pressure to quit worse than ever. For me, the lulls in between waves are some of the hardest of times.
And yet, we persist. We don’t want this virus in our bodies if we can help it, ever.
Went to see Köln 75 at the little indie movie theatre here. I thought it was an interesting thing to have a bilingual movie (English and German) without any subtitles; just expecting the audience to understand both well enough.
It was an enjoyable film. Funny in parts. Some of it is very German. The family dynamic reminded me of the way my father's family would sometimes speak to each other.
#YallMasking at the movie theater?
“We’re trying to find the missing pieces that help people connect the dots and the intersectionalities of capitalism and this pandemic.”
New today in Deceleration: "Mask Blocs" help the sick, #disabled, and #COVID-conscious stay involved in their communities in #Texas, while raising awareness about why this needs to be a core issue for organizing on the Left. https://deceleration.news/texas-mask-blocs-covid-19-federal-and-state-attacks/
I'm on the Island Bus Link now. En route to Nanaimo
I am the only person masked on the bus. In front passenger seat & can roll window down.
I hope to not be the only person wearing an #N95 mask on the Island Bus Link today.
I will update from the bus, early afternoon
Wallgreens says we’re at 16% covid positivity in the US with not all the states reporting.
Y’all, do you remember when the plan was to not reopen America until we got below 3%? Then when we couldn’t even get down to 5% Biden called it over. Disgusting.

The evidence for altered brain function after (repeated) Covid keeps stacking up in the medical literature.
But is it influencing people's behavior towards more risk taking?
I am not sure. People panic about safety issues other than Covid?
It seems that Covid is systematically suppressed for a reason I do not yet understand.
To me a happy life isn't an ignorant life. It isn't a pretend life. It requires sense, reason, and compassion, not numbness. It requires both imagination AND manifestation. Action and reaction. It requires a journey and a destination. It needs focused paths with room for wondering. And above all else, a truly happy life.. requires walking in truth.
Here's the thing. I'm perfectly willing to spend time w/ people outdoors, or masked indoors, or unmasked indoors w/ rapid testing, open windows, air purifiers.
But if the other person isn't covid-aware, then I don't actually ENJOY hearing about or seeing photos of their various unmasked exploits that include people I know who are medically vulnerable (and who don't even take covid precautions themselves).
It's depressing instead of uplifting & makes me prefer being a hermit.
New introduction post - joined in Nov 2022 (as many did) and back now after a hiatus. I write about Covid, disability justice, ableism, eugenics, the experience of being chronically ill during a pandemic and life, loss and grief. Looking forward to connecting with people here again! #CovidIsNotOver #COVIDisAirborne #chronicillness #Ableism #DisabilityJustice #WearAMask #MaskUp #CleanAir #DisabilityRights
On Wednesdays we wear #masks .
We #MaskUp
- because the viral load in waste water is alarming
- because being sick is not fun
- because every infection avoided and every transmission interrupted is worth it
We wear the best mask we have to protect those who cannot mask (or mask well) because they are too unwell or because they are too young.
