I’ve been trying to get a formal assessment for dyslexia in Canada for over a year and finally got into a place to try and get it done a few months back.

I did an intake and got ghosted for 5 weeks.

The psychologist called today out of the blue and was being an ableist shithead about my cognitive limitations for the testing.

I had words. I’m so tired of having to explain the level of disability I deal with and fight through every goddamn day. People who live normal lives and work normal hours will never, ever understand. A psychologist of all people - should.

I’m still pissed.

I miss participating in protests. When I was able, there was a typical degree of risk. It's real risk, but it's ameliorated by solidarity and preparation.

Now, I am targeted by police and agitators both. If my caregiver is injured or detained, I become a stationary obstacle. If I am injured, detained, or otherwise directly impacted, I may die or become further disabled, due to the nature of my conditions and care.

If you protest, what do you do, if you're mobility-limited?

#LongCovid energy crash day.

Today I have:

- collapsed and was unable to move for over an hour

- had physical help to go to the toilet (including holding me up while I adjusted clothes)

- slept for a total of several hours

- eaten only when I was helped to sit up and the plate was put in my hand

- had a ten minute conversstion, by the end of which my words were slurred

- typed a couple of toots

- nothing else

I "don't seem #disabled" because you don't see days like this.

I had enough energy to play with some acrylic paints. My plan was just to add some areas of color to art journal pages to get some backgrounds started. I got completely immersed in the way the colors blended and layered, I started glazing and scumbling and using dry brush techniques to pull out areas of texture and suddenly it hit me that *I* am still in here.

I’m still me, just my body has changed.

I felt joyful and alive in that moment and it was…everything.
